Methodology library.

Studies published here state how their data was collected before they state what the data shows. The methods used across the program are held to the same four standards.

Standards

  • Field-collected. Observation from real residential work, not modeled estimates.
  • Normalized. Adjusted for population so growth is not mistaken for activity.
  • Continuous. Long-run records, so change can be read over time.
  • Stated plainly. Limits and pending data are named, not buried.
