Our mission.

Pest Science Group is a research initiative applying building science and field data to structural pest management. We study how homes, climate, and pest behavior interact, and we publish what we find.

Most pest information reaches residents as a product recommendation. We think the more useful thing is the reasoning underneath it: why activity rises where it does, what a building envelope has to do with it, and what actually changes the outcome.

The work is grounded in the Phoenix Valley, where a twenty-five year field record gives the research continuity.

Why Pest Science Group.

Pest control and pest science are usually kept apart. One sells a service, the other publishes papers, and very little crosses between them.

Field work and research belong together, carried out by the same people, in the same homes.

That is the structural difference here. The Phoenix record is field-collected and runs continuously from 1999 to 2025.

It also means findings are written to be acted on. A study that a resident cannot understand has not finished its job.

Research standards.

Published work carries its method with it. Where a dataset is not yet published, we say so on the page rather than quoting a number early.

We hold to

  • Findings are stated with their method, not ahead of it.
  • Data is population-adjusted before it is compared.
  • Limits, gaps, and unpublished datasets are named in the open.
  • Every claim traces back to field observation, not inference.
